Most people wouldn’t want to state the obvious when meeting other people for the very first time because to be honest, it’s pretty dumb and quite annoying too. Irewole on the other hand… Well, just keep reading.
First of all, Morgan Freeman never wrote or said the quoted text above. Second of all, it’s my first personal blog post!!!
Words cannot describe how excited I am right now! I can already tell that this blog would be awesome and the best thing about me yet. I can almost see the loads of traffic and love pouring in from all angles!
Before writing this, I did a ton of research on what my first blog post should look like and I have to admit, it wasn’t easy. It was quite literally the longest two and half minutes of my life.
Everybody seemed to have an opinion on what I should do. As expected, I got tired of all that crap and decided to wing it and do it my way.
So, essentially, I’d be giving you the low down of my blog: what type it is, what to expect from it and the likes of that.
It’d be a bit rude if I just jumped straight into this without bothering to introduce myself to you, wouldn’t it?
My name is Irewole. I am a student of Mass Communication in the University of Lagos. I know you probably don’t give a crap about any of that so I won’t dwell much on it. If you however want to know more about my near narcissistic self (including my real name), click on this link: About Me.
You’ll also find my reason for creating this blog there so, click away!
Now that we’re done with that, let’s jump right into the basics:
What is Irewole’s Blog?
I created this blog to be a student lifestyle blog. Please, don’t get it wrong. Just because it’s a student lifestyle blog doesn’t mean I’ll be up here posting all that educational content or telling you about the top five best mathematical equations or any of that kind of stuff.
Being a student lifestyle blog means that it’d be tailored specifically to the interests of students and youths generally in Nigeria or if we’re being realistic, on my WhatsApp contact list. *sheds tear*
What to Expect From Irewole’s Blog
In terms of content, I’ve grouped my articles into three main categories. At least until I have some sort of caffeine fuelled epiphany and decide to create a new one.
The first is perhaps the most valuable. You’d get tips, hacks, guides and lists on a variety of topics that students/young people such as yourself are interested in. Besides that – and perhaps more importantly – is how to survive as a Nigerian student. You’ll agree with me that we need all the help we can get.
The second is basically my point of view on trending topics, issues of concern and all that intellectual stuff.
The third is my diary. It’s the place I keep all my juicy gists, helpful personal experiences and my deepest, darkest secrets including the fact that I still don’t know how to spell “diahrea”.
That’s that for content. In terms of style, if you’ve read any of my write-ups before, you’d understand how they usually go down. If you haven’t, I want you to hang on to your seats. This is about to be one heck of a ride filled with sarcasm, questionable humor, occasional table shaking and even more sarcasm. I’d tell you to have fun but you really can’t help it anyway.
I feel now would be a pretty good time to mention that I would be writing two different articles about Valentine on and before the day itself. What better way to start anything than with love eh?
For now, I’ll be posting once a week (on Fridays with the possible exception of holidays). If for some reason, I have to make changes to that plan, I’ll be sure to let you know.
P.S: By “changes”, I mean day of posting, not frequency. Unless I can’t help it, I plan to keep to my once a week posting schedule. Amen.
